Palitz Gallery

The Second floor of Syracuse University Lubin House is the home of the Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery. Made possible through the generous support of alumna Louise Palitz and her husband Bernard, the Gallery is host to several art exhibits throughout the year including two major public shows - one in the fall and one in the spring.

The SUArt Galleries on campus, the generosity of private collectors, and the talents of alumni are what help to make the Palitz Gallery a popular feature of Lubin House.

Curators of the Palitz Gallery exhibits are Domenic Iacono (djiacono@syr.edu), Director of SUArt Galleries, David Prince (dlprince@syr.edu), Associate Director/Curator, SUArt Galleries and Edward Aiken, Senior Curator, Program Coordinator, Museum Studies Graduate Program.

SUArt Galleries can be reached at 315-443-4097.

The Prints of Seong Moy

Palitz Gallery
Through December 8, 2011

Gallery Hours: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday to Friday; Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday

The Palitz Gallery at Syracuse University Lubin House is pleased to present The Prints of Seong Moy, a selection of 30 woodcuts and etchings by the internationally known and collected artist and educator. This exhibition is a retrospective which focuses on Seong Moy’s career as printmaker. His early works, small but complicated woodcuts on soft luminous papers, were immediately accepted by artists, curators, and the purchasing public.  A painterly quality, so important to his entire graphic output, is evident in much of this work and is all the more special because it is captured in color wood block prints that require great sophistication and skill from the artist.
