A Conversation with Larry Kramer '72

    December 18, 2010

The Newhouse School honored founder and former CEO of MarketWatch and current President of CBS Digital Media Larry Kramer ‘72 on the publication of his book “C-Scape: Conquer the Forces Changing Business Today”.

During his conversation with anchor Poppy Harlow, Kramer discussed the importance of how every business is a media business because “every aspect of business is increasingly carried out through media."

He also talked about the four important factors that are influencing the future of business, media, and technology:

    • Curation
    • Consumers
    • Convergence
    • Content

As a long time journalist and businessman, Kramer relied on personal experience to write his book, taking what he has learned throughout his career and making it available to readers.

He believes that technology is only just the beginning of where media and business is headed but “what matters is not merely new technologies but how consumers and businesses adapt those technologies to meet their own evolving needs.”
